The 85th anniversary of the Moscow Metro.
On 15 may 1935 Moscow became the 24th city in the world with metro service
Today, the Moscow Metro has 15 lines including the Moscow Central Circle.
Together with the Moscow Central Diameters and the Moscow Monorail, there are 333 stations which are being used by more than 9.5 million people daily.
And it continues to develop.
The first line was opened to the public on 15 May 1935 at 07:00 am.It was 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) long and included 13 stations.
The day was celebrated as a technological. and ideological victory for
socialism
(and, by extension,
Stalinism
).
