We were commissioned to design a summer house by a foreign customer, who’s cultural identity and customs are far different from ours regarding the way of building and the privacy of the home.
The house in the center of two grouped plots located in the second line, behind a group of pine-trees that leave some clears in-between from where we have some sea views. There is a clear willing to offer a sober image without stridency but with details evoking exclusivity and a certain ostentation, concepts that are brought to the interior, with white finishes splashed with wooden tones.
The house is designed as a compact volume with segregated spaces inside to differentiate those for entrance purposes with a double-height to reinforce the idea of welcoming, from those for circulation on the central axis dividing the house, or the utility/service spaces on the north façade, or daylight and nightlight areas in two different floors, and generating a circular movement.
Some elements come from the Mediterranean architectural tradition such as generous porches to protect from the high summer temperatures or water sheets related to daylight spaces, which ease the extreme weather.
It is important to highlight the good performance of some of the technical solutions implemented to isolate thermally and acoustically keeping good ventilation, given the strict requirements by the property. The building got the maximum efficiency certification.
