Room of Silence

新建的柏林勃兰登堡威利勃兰特机场设有一个基督教教堂以及一个所谓的“沉默室”。静默室是来自各种文化和宗教的人们的同等隐居之所。

The new Berlin Brandenburg Willibrandt Airport has a Christian church and a so-called silence room. The Silent Room is an equal retreat for people from all cultures and religions.

DESIGN DESCRIPTION

这个神圣的建筑群由五个房间组成：两个祈祷室，两个庭院和一个共用入口大厅。小教堂将有一个十字架，祭坛和15个座位。沉默室的核心是镶嵌在地板上的青铜罗盘。

This sacred complex consists of five rooms: two prayer rooms, two courtyards and a shared entrance hall. The chapel will have a cross, altar and 15 seats. The core of the Silence Room is a bronze compass inlaid on the floor.

祈祷室的所有墙壁和地板以及拱形拱形天花板均由烧结砖制成。

All walls and floors of the prayer room and the vaulted ceiling are made of sintered bricks.

GMP Architects p lace is a material that places special emphasis on firing and processing, the process of creating the unmistakable and lively surface of the brick.

The use of selected materials and simple, geometric architectural forms create a high-strength expression that, in appearance, involves human origins and the local architectural traditions of ancient places of worship in Berlin and Brandenburg.

ABOUT DESIGNER

Meinhard von Gerkan 于1965年与 Volkwin Marg 共同创立了Gmp · Architekten von Gerkan，玛格和合伙人。1974年至2002年间，Von Gerkan 在不伦瑞克工业大学担任设计系主任；2002年，马尔堡菲利普斯大学授予他名誉博士学位；2005年，中正大学授予他荣誉博士学位。

Meinhard von Gerkan and Volkwin Marg co-founded gmp·Architect von Gerkan, Marg and partner in 1965. From 1974 to 2002, Von Gerkan served as the head of the Design Department at Brunswick University of Technology; in 2002, Marlborough Phillips University awarded him an honorary doctorate; in 2005, Chung Cheng University awarded him an honorary doctorate.

In 2007, the School of Design at East China Normal University in Shanghai appointed von Gekan as an honorary professor. Since 2014, he has been an advisory professor at Tongji University in Shanghai. Von Gerkan is the co-founder of the gmp foundation and the Academy of Architecture and Culture (aac), and has won numerous awards, including the Romanian National Award, the German Institute of Architects Special Award, the Federal Meritorious First Prize and the Architectural Society of China Liang Sicheng Award. His most famous projects include Berlin Tegel Airport, Berlin Central Station, Guna Villas in Jurmala, Latvia, Hanoi Museum, Hanoi National Assembly of Vietnam, Chongqing Grand Theatre, the construction and reconstruction of the National Museum of China, the Beijing Museum and the vicinity of Shanghai Lingang New Town Planning.
