Design & Creative Associates were engaged by NAB STUDIO, a pioneering IT company, to design their offices located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
A group of young people gathered with a passion to create impactful products for the whole world, as if they represent Vietnam today.
With the increase in the number of employees accompanying the business expansion, they decided to plan a more comfortable office space with the aim of expanding the office and improving the workplace environment. The new office also needed a design and impact that embody the NAB brand image.
Since NAB STUDIO has various projects at the same time, it is indispensable to have a team for each project and active communication between members. Sometimes they need space where they can concentrate on their own work. We aimed for an office that could meet these demands and increase functionality and productivity.
The office building is located in the developed area of the district7, Ho Chi Minh City, and has an excellent location with a view of a large artificial pond surrounded by green from inside.
The working space is centralized in the entire office, and MTG rooms, back offices, lounges, etc. are arranged around it. There is also CANTEEN across the building common part. The size of the office has more than doubled as before, but the ceiling height has been very low, about 2,450 mm, compared to 4,000 mm in the past.
We considered removing the ceiling panels to secure the height, but the plumbing and air-conditioning ducts of the building were randomly installed, and it was difficult to make the ceiling exposed. The solution was to make the ceiling wavy. This shape creates a rhythm with a series of curves instead of a monotonous and flat ceiling, giving a three-dimensional feeling and eliminating the low ceiling.
The wavy panel was 300 mm wide and was placed at the top of the working space at a 400 mm pitch. Lighting and air conditioning outlets are located in the 100 mm gap between panels. The panel, made of steel, has a glossy paint that reflects external light appropriately and contributes to brightening the interior.
The design and development department, where communication within the team is particularly important, was placed with the desks facing each other shifted. By doing so, the neighbors face each other a little diagonally, and we devised so that the sense of distance between them would be closer. Open spaces around the office are not only available for break, but are also available in a variety of ways to suit individual work, team meetings, and events.
