The competition programme for the town hall envisaged the integration of the local municipal administration and a commercial area in a single building.
The insertion of the new volume in the context preserves the void between the main street and the parish church. The building has a main institutional front which represents the public content and a functional rear for accesses and vertical connections.
The chosen typology optimises the geometry and flexibility of the building. Sales are located on the ground floor and the municipal administration on the first story.
The main façade was designed with vertical blades made in terracotta briks. The different orientation and inclination of these blades allow to manage the various functions in natural light and to maintain a unitary character that supports the public value of the building. The same vertical elements were used to divide the interior spaces.
The decision to enrich the concrete building with terracotta briks was inspired by the local building tradition, which in the past used kilns for the production of terracotta elements.
