The extension of the Amreso Bethel nursing home is a simple parallelepiped on three levels with two patios. It consists of two protected units on the first and second levels and an EHPAD service on the third level with a total of 88 new beds. The rooms of the different services surround the building and a circulation system completes the distribution without dead ends. The dining rooms, where residents spend most of their time, separate the two patios with access to the gardens or large terraces. Two opposite corners of the parallelepiped are hollowed out to form generous balconies clad in wood that extend interior spaces for families to visit residents. Large plant frames with evergreen and floral climbing plants climb in front of the facades to filter the view and sunlight every second window in the rooms. The extension is grafted onto the existing building by a discreet gallery. Part of the existing building has been restructured to create a new laundry, cloakrooms and a cafeteria for the staff. The entrance hall has also been restructured and an ambitious interior design project has been undertaken. We also created a meditation space next to the Bethel Retirement Home. We imagined a simple, pure space, with work on the light above and below thanks to a glass base under the benches. Everything is made of solid wood to encourage meditation. This space is open to all, it is not linked to a particular religion, it is intended for prayer and meditation. Wood is almost the only material used in this project.
