This revamped three-bedroom 1970s apartment offers a glamorous take on beachside living in a palette of pale teal and burnt orange, inspired by the water and sand outside as well as a series of Art Deco buildings across the road.
Greg Natale
The renovation and redesign by Greg Natale involved removing internal walls to create an open-plan living, kitchen and dining area, where stucco ceilings and walls reflect the light and water to great effect. Perforated bulkheads hide utilities like support beams and air conditioning while also providing a decorative element, with the circle motif repeated in design details from joinery mouldings to beautifully coloured mosaic tiles in the bathrooms.
Curves play a major role, in the arches and fluted columns introduced to visually increase the scale of the apartment, in the rounded forms of the joinery, and in the organic lines of furniture – a collection of contemporary and mid-century pieces.Just as stunning as the view beyond is the terrace, with its custom tiles that give a nod to the designs of Gio Ponti, evoking hotel-style sophistication and a holiday vibe at home.
