Nadzieja Restaurant is an Israeli Restaurant in Poznan, Poland, designed by local design studio Agnieszka Owsiany. It offers a plant-based menu of Israeli dishes and is decorated with bright, warm interiors, and references to sunny 1930s tel aviv and its rich Bauhaus architecture.
Agnieszka Owsiany Studio kept that in mind when designing a new decor for the former Asian udon noodle house. The space is visually very solid with dark green walls, which are painted with many patterns, and black paint on the materials and ceiling. Several of the walls of the entire 80-square-metre restaurant are covered in simple white tiles, a nod to tel aviv's pale Bauhaus architecture, a feature that ultimately makes the destination a white city.
At the center of the space is a long table with a wooden countertop eight centimeters thick. It is surrounded by brown leather chairs with tubular steel frames, echoing Bauhaus master Marcel Breuer's famous Wassily chair. The chairs also appear in the main dining room, where a variety of seating options are available, as well as traditional low tables and high counters made of ivory granite and black bistro-style high chairs.
Windows at Nadzieja Restaurant are uncurtained to maximize natural light. Chandeliers suspended from the ceiling can also be opened and dimmed in the evening to create a more intimate atmosphere. The studio added: "their chrome-plated details and spherical shadows made of white glass once again represent the Bauhaus style.”
