The exhibition hall designed by Hu Tao for One Bridge Gallery is a reflection design. The introverted and free space takes the spirit of enlightenment as its value orientation, transcending the cry of function and beauty.

Awakening · Human scale
古代中国观念中的“人”,始终被放置于“天”之下。天,是人难以抗拒的超自然力量,而“我”将人从“天”的困境中解救出来。觉醒的自我,是自我认识与自我体验深化的结果,也是独立精神与自由思想萌芽的开始。
The concept of "man" in ancient China was always placed under "heaven". Heaven is an irresistible supernatural force, and "I" will save people from the plight of "heaven". Awakening self is the result of deepening self-knowledge and self-experience, and also the beginning of independent spirit and free thought.
展厅大多追求无立柱无间隔的大空间感设计,胡涛反其道而行之,将脱胎于希腊神庙的柱廊安置于入口,形成一个内向而不封闭的空间。柱体以“人的尺度”取代 “诸神的尺度”, 中空的柱心成为独立而又连贯的展示空间,均衡林立创造出一种强有力的意象。
Most of the exhibition halls pursue the design of large space without columns or intervals. Hu Tao takes the opposite approach and places the colonnade derived from the Greek temple at the entrance, forming an introverted but not closed space. The "human scale" replaces the "gods scale". The hollow center of the column becomes an independent and coherent display space, creating a powerful image with balanced stands.
将“人”从神学意识中解放出来,将“我”从集体思维中剥离出来,这是进入空间亦是读懂空间的“门槛”。
To liberate "man" from the theological consciousness and "me" from the collective thinking is the "threshold" to enter the space and to understand it.

意识的改变通常有两种途径,第一种是理性的,被说服或被启发;第二种是感性的,被感染或被打动。胡涛的设计策略是:强调在地性设计,营造独有的场所精神;强调家具与艺术、文化之间的联结,打破僵化的陈规和过时的趣味;强化空间与人之间的文化认同,通过空间来完成沟通感性和理性的桥梁。
There are usually two ways to change consciousness. The first way is rational, persuaded or inspired. The second type is emotional, being infected or moved. Hu Tao's design strategy is to emphasize local design and create unique place spirit; Emphasizing the connection between furniture and art and culture, breaking rigid conventions and outdated tastes; Strengthen the cultural identity between space and people, and complete the bridge between sensibility and rationality through space.
对于年轻人来说,“心象”是比“形象”更为重要的存在,感受上、情绪上的价值比功能性的利益更为吸引。胡涛大胆构想象征性空间与精神世界的联系,通过空间造型设计、色彩、材质、灯光等的综合表达,从心灵穿透世界的表象去寻找性灵的安顿,塑造强烈的新奇感与即时的认同感。
For young people, "mental image" is a more important existence than "image", and the value of feeling and emotion is more attractive than the functional benefits. Hu Tao boldly conceived of the connection between symbolic space and the spiritual world. Through the integrated expression of spatial modeling design, color, material and lighting, Hu Tao penetrated the representation of the world from the soul to find the settlement of the spirit, creating a strong sense of novelty and instant identity.

胡涛扎根于东莞,对于东莞本土企业的困境洞若观火。东莞首家代工厂出现在 1978 年,从此东莞制造业一路高歌猛进,然而在2008年-2015年间,代工企业纷纷倒闭。究其原因,根本在于生产的产品附加值低,技术水平低,产品市场的层次低。
Hu Tao, who has roots in Dongguan, has a keen understanding of the plight of local companies. The first OEM factory in Dongguan appeared in 1978. Since then, the manufacturing industry in Dongguan has been developing rapidly. However, from 2008 to 2015, the OEM enterprises closed down one after another. The reason lies in the low added value of the products, the low level of technology and the low level of the product market.

胡涛并不希望营造出来的空间与都市生活隔离,成为独立的或逃离的场所。相反,他将空间作为都市的要素来考虑,同时将都市生活的比例融入空间之中。此外,他还从游园的路线中推导出一套适合现代展厅的法则,看似布景实则叙事,看似叙事实则抒情,看似抒情实则造境,虚则实之,实则虚之,让人在室内的游走自由而惬意。
Hu Tao does not want the created space to be isolated from urban life and become an independent or escape place. Instead, he thinks of space as an element of the city, while incorporating the proportions of urban life into the space. In addition, he also derived a set of rules suitable for modern exhibition halls from the tour route, which looks like scenery but actually tells the story, looks like narrative but actually lyricism, looks like lyricism but actually creates the environment, emptiness is real, and reality is empty, so that people can walk freely and comfortable in the room.
由尺度和比例所构成的秩序带给人视觉和心理上的平衡,而在秩序之中一直潜藏着越界的冲动,当人行至空间深处、动线的尽头,胡涛精心编织的隐喻才豁然开朗。艺术家叶勇的抽象油画作品,作为颠覆性的元素介入空间,以毫无秩序的泼洒式画法带来强烈的视觉冲击,一种毁灭式的重生力量。
The order formed by scale and proportion brings visual and psychological balance to people, and the impulse to cross the boundary is always hidden in the order. When people walk into the deep space and the end of the moving line, Hu Tao's elaborately woven metaphor suddenly becomes bright. Artist Ye Yong's abstract oil paintings, as subversive elements into the space, bring a strong visual impact with the disorderly splashing style of painting, a destructive force of rebirth.
