Rising above the exclusive Santa Maria Business District, midway between Panama City and Tocumen International Airport, is the Panama DIAMOND EXCHANGE, a dedicated complex that is set to become the primary trading hub for the diamond, gemstone and jewelry trades in all of South and Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. With a futuristic profile and metallic exterior, the Panama Diamond Exchange building is a two-level structure covering 1,578 square meters of a 4,810 square-meter developed space. Surrounded by a high security perimeter, including a parking area for tenants and visitors, it is set within landscaped gardens. The first level includes the headquarters of the Panama Diamond Exchange, including its administrative offices, meeting rooms and a 300 square-meter trading floor. The level also includes a restaurant and up to 26 company offices. The second level provides office space for up to 33 companies. The building’s facade is constructed of perforated aluminum panels, featuring patterns that represent the angles of a cut diamond. With both functional and artistic value, the panels enhance the security of the facility, and symbolize the art and beauty of the gemstone.
