ENG - The Central Market - since 2014, a florentine election place including gastronomic, art and cultural tradition - on October 5 inaugurated its own personal model of a city market in Rome, exploring a new approach in the way we communicate, taste and experience food.

The project for the Central Market Termini, signed by the architect Luca Baldini and the designer Marco Baldini (studio Q-bic, Florence), is based on the idea of the market intended as a place for spontaneous business meetings, a changeable space in which the experience and the knowledge of a community are expressed. A design that, while maintaining an overall view of a homogeneous character that is clearly recognizable, aims for the characterization of each individual shop through the use of different materials such as wood, iron, ceramics, marble.

The shops and its craftsmen are the real protagonists. The craftsmen are the heart of the project: they know their products in detail and no one better than them is able to recount the qualities and strengths. The former after work railway, historically a place of meeting and sharing, has revived its original function with the Central Market in Rome.

ITA - Mercato Centrale – dal 2014 luogo d’elezione fiorentino tra tradizione gastronomica, arte e cultura – il 5 ottobre ha inaugurato il suo personale modello di mercato cittadino a Roma, esplorando un nuovo approccio nel modo di comunicare, sentire e vivere il cibo.

Il progetto per il Mercato Centrale Termini, firmato dall'architetto Luca Baldini e dal designer Marco Baldini (studio Q-bic, Firenze), si fonda sull'idea di mercato inteso come luogo di incontro commerciale spontaneo, uno spazio mutevole nel quale vengono espressi le esperienze e i saperi di una comunità. Una progettazione che, pur mantenendo una visione d'insieme ed un carattere omogeneo ben riconoscibile, mira alla caratterizzazione di ogni singola bottega attraverso l'utilizzo di materiali sempre diversi come legno, ferro, ceramica, marmo.

Le botteghe e dei suoi artigiani sono i veri protagonisti. Gli artigiani sono il cuore del progetto: conoscono i loro

prodotti nei minimi dettagli e nessuno meglio di loro è in grado di raccontarne le qualità e i punti di forza.

L’ex dopo lavoro ferroviario, storicamente luogo di incontro e condivisione, rivive

con Mercato Centrale Roma la sua funzione originale.
