Place: Lessac, FranceClient: Alexander von Vegesack and Mathias Schwartz-Clauss, Domaine de BoisbuchetCollaborators: N/AScope of work: Week-long workshop on the French Estate with 12 international ‘interior architecture’ students of varied ages and levels of experienceDate: June 2017Size: line of 830 m long x 2.8 m wide in an area of 150 haMaterials: people, rope, rocks, pigment powder and mowing machineThe goal of this one-week workshop at Domaine de Boisbuchet was to open a new path within the area of the property crossing all its landscape. A path that would provide orientation and accessibility to the intriguing landscape, trigger one’s imagination and connect the various landscape conditions to one-another.By using a physical model of the Boisbuchet estate and satellite images we drew a line in the landscape with an orientation South/East - North/West connecting the castle with the built pavilions of the property and the surrounded nature. By doing this all the extremes of the domain are connected; with the castle at its heart, running from the river Vienne upward, past meadows and horses, lawns, lakes and prairies through the dark closed Acacia forest and finally reaching the boundary of the estate, to create a section through the landscape with one clear move.Cords, sticks and spray were gathered to draw physically a line of 830 meters long and 2.80 meters wide. It all became an experience in itself, a play, a collective choreography. The line was drawn in 24 hours and 220 pink painted stones were collected from the river and placed along the line. Inside the now revealed forest, strategic trees were painted with water based pink paint as vertical presences creating view lines towards the unknown and catching your eye in and onward.Team Inside Outside:Petra Blaisse with Jana Crepon and Aura MelisImages: © Inside Outside, © Micho Romero, © CIRECA_Domaine de Boisbuchet
