Spacemen has designed the latest flagship for Braun Buffel in Putrajaya, Malaysia, the first in a series of conceptual spaces entitled ‘Urban Bloom’. Conceived to sit somewhere between a gallery and a laboratory, the futuristic aesthetic offers a maximal minimalist approach to luxury.
The centrepiece of the space is an abstract interpretation of a living tree sprouting from the floor to the ceiling. The moss-covered installation’s organic silhouette, created by Ohsum Mossum, offers a calming contrast with the open plan layout of the store, merging architecture with sculpture.
Pale plaster walls act as a base palette for a layered composition of onyx walls and counters, drawing focus to the displays and products lining the space. A pair of matching green jade marble-clad counters with glass vitrines display small leather goods at the front of the store. The natural green grains provide a visual connection with the rest of the biophilic-themed interior. Further in, orange onyx display counters add punchy accents into the store.
A serene green onyx wall at the end of the store is accompanied by a display counter constructed entirely out of clear glass. A long curved bench fabricated from the same green onyx and an oak armchair were designed especially by Spacemen to accompany the customer waiting area.
With futuristic styling, this immersive and compelling retail space represents bold shift for Braun Buffels’ in-store environment.
