The Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw can boast of the new headquarters of the Faculty of Media Art. The building was built in the post-industrial part of Warsaw's Wola district and fits perfectly into the local urban fabric.
The design selected in the competition is the work of a team of architects from the Vostok Design studio.
The new building of the Academy of Fine Arts was built as an expansion of the historic Sanitary Works, classic industrial architecture from the early 20th century. In addition to brick, the project used materials from stone, ceramics, metal and wood - exactly the same materials used by students of the Academy of Fine Arts on a daily basis.
The project and implementation were very warmly received by the community. It received the prestigious Architectural Award of the Mayor of Warsaw for the best public building of 2017. He also took second place in the competition of the Architecture Salon of the Małopolska District Chamber of Architects and was nominated for the Brick Award, Wienerberger 2017. An extensive publication was also devoted to him in the Architecture & Business magazine.
