It is because she felt so good there that Laura Gonzalez, more than anyone else, was able to perceive the subtle change taking place in the smart neighbourhoods in the west of Paris. The interior architect and founder of Pravda Arkitect successfully embodied this younger clientele, consisting largely of families, with the renovation of Brasserie Auteuil (formerly Tsé). «I thought of a place I would like to come to at the weekend with my family and friends!» she spontaneously sums up.

The urban and welcoming brasserie has been designed as a breath of fresh air on the edge of the «coulée verte» in the 16th arrondissement… Its artifices were removed and the 500 square-metre space with terrace and roof top, detached from the commotion of Paris, was laid bare and metamorphosed into a bright and friendly sanctuary. It is a chic and warm restaurant where the mix of rough coverings and precious materials, which can sometimes be intimidating, is made welcoming thanks to the almost exclusive use of natural materials – plywood, straw, and linen – and the remarkable planting work by Arôm PARIS.

The establishment opens onto a bar set out in an island configuration fitted with a terrazzo worktop and a thick oak floor. Above, a collection of suspended bamboos and a cluster of succulent plants hanging in raffia nets emphasise the height of the ceiling. This central element sets the tone of the decoration.

On the right, the dining area has a relaxed feel to take the edge off the concrete wall and the row of immaculate bistro tables and chairs. Light oak chairs with a white-painted bistro-style base are combined with industrial furniture and appliques picked up at the Saint Ouen flea market and AY illuminate hanging lights in linen and bamboo. The made-to-order plywood benches covered in Pierre Frey linen fabric and Caravane cushions dress the back of the room. Behind the bar, the lounge area, with its linen sofa and pool table, is an invitation to relax.

The stairway with its dark blue background emphasises movement and leads to the upper floor with its pièce de résistance: the roof top. Designed as a sanctuary, this special area is isolated from the outside world thanks to a veritable architecture of terracotta pots by Arôm PARIS. As for furniture, Tolix chairs with vintage braided metal seats painted in green (Green Smoke by Farrow & Ball) respond to the rough wood planters with integrated benches. In a true invitation to travel, the ethnicinspired cover has been hand-painted with patterns inspired by the Berber culture, which respond to the kilim cushions scattered here and there.
