The walls of hospitals have heard more prayers than the places of worship.
Having lost a loved one to cancer, we empathize with people fighting the disease and their loved ones. In the clinic, the space is an emotionally soothing sanctuary for people undergoing treatments. Pale colors and soft curves keep the patients relaxed. Nature-inspired artworks imbue hope and let the mind wander. The space is designed to uplift hope, soothe nerves, and heal the most common yet most dreaded disease.
The conceptual idea of having a DNA ceiling came from the treatment process itself. Chemotherapy works by stopping or slowing the growth of cancer cells, which grow and divide quickly. The ceiling has dual-colored DNA representing sick cells
converting to healthy cells. This is symbolic of the process happening in the patient's body. Connecting it with the fact that the doctors, treatment, and care are instrumental in bringing this change.
An artwork depicting the human body as a whirlwind of these good cells and bad completes the process. This is a design and build project completed in 40 days.
The thought process was cathartic, design brought several challenges while keeping it simple yet interesting, and completing this in time was a feat.
The curved reception swirling out from the semicircular backdrop is the show-stopper of this project. The detail smoothly glides the eyes from top to bottom made from flexiply.
