We definitely had our head in the clouds on this project. Clouds and sunlight are woven deeply into the new Avalon Belltown Tower Luxury Apartments. From the reflections of sunlight off the 3d mirrored wall in the lobby to the chandeliers on the 24th floor lounge, clouds and interpretations of clouds run through all the spaces. Seattle studio Graypants created three massive clouds from ping pong balls that float in the double height space. Internal lighting keep them gently color morphing as if catching sunset and sunrise skies. Hanging chairs drop out of them for tenants to enjoy.
110 unique illustrations of surreal clouds and people by Dave Van Patten decorate the corridors. The 24th floor has two glass and lighting installations by Lasvit, one an abstracted rain curtain the other a sunset cloud of red glass hang over a dining table. Custom rugs soften the space and feature colored engravings of sunset clouds. With an amazing view of Eliott Bay the 24th Floor lounge is the perfect spot for co-working, or having a glass of wine with friends and getting your head into the clouds.
