What’s next after Google in terms of office layout evolution? The Cloud Office offers a concept where heterogeneus, indoor-outdoor spaces with proximity to nature can inspire people who spend most of their time at the office. The design is based on a novel structure – especially designed by SHAU – clover-shaped concrete mushroom columns which are arrayed and stacked according to area and functional requirements. This leads to buildings with same-radius circular glass façade elements having differentiated outlines and appearances, up to eight stories high. This specific approach towards standardization and repetition does not lead to homogenized spaces but to differentiated interiors and exteriors. The individual buildings are formed in such a way, that they cluster around a central courtyard. In response to passive solar energy gains, orientation and interior functions, the building is cladded with a metal mesh made of rings and various disk sizes. The layout is adaptable for retail uses, creative or corporate offices. On top is a green roof with a gym, and in between the indoor and outdoor spaces there are break spaces which can be used for meetings, chatting, resting, or just for sitting down and finding inspirations.
