McMillan Pazdan Smith instilled a collaborative spirit into the offices of Cargo, a marketing agency, located in Greenville, South Carolina.
McMillan Pazdan Smith’s Corporate Studio and project designer Mary Lewis worked to create an office space for Cargo that focused on collaboration, branding, and productivity combined with functional and beautiful environments.
The new space has an elevated industrial feel with tone-on-tone colors, custom cabinetry, and a custom-made wood beam ceiling feature that curves around the core. Exterior walls are a hand-cut, thin brick with custom-wood window seals. There’s a full bar in the “social hub” that’s used for creative meetings, social lunches, and culture-building events. There are also several booths and banquets throughout for additional collaboration.
Artist Peter Glassford was commissioned to create a custom wood wall behind reception with Cargo’s logo fabricated out of metal and inset into the wall.
An abundance of game tables in the common areas reflects this agency’s “work where you play, play where you work” attitude. Attention was paid to make sure the lighting was elevated from what you’d typically find in an industrial office space.
