This April, in conjunction with Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, New York-based design studio APPARATUS has debuted two new lighting series, CIRCUIT and TASSEL; and the PORTALTABLES in Marble, the brand’s latest addition to its PORTAL furniture series. An interplay between movement, shape and materials, APPARATUS’ latest products reflect the brand’s inspired and modern approach to classic forms and functions.
The CIRCUIT SERIES plays on concepts of rhythm and layering, while the TASSEL SERIES brings forth unique ornamental and decorative elements to the studio’s existing collection. Continuing the PORTAL SERIES, the new PORTAL TABLES in MARBLE add gravity and permanence to the design.
Continuing the exploration of the PORTAL SERIES, the PORTAL TABLES in Marble, available in both coffee and dining table versions, connect the proportions of ancient structures to daily experience, linking ceremonial and domestic ritual. The commanding forms are fittingly expressed in Italian marble. Notched reveals establish points of entry, emphasising the tension between mass and negative space, monumental and human.
APPARATUS is a New York based design studio working with aged brass, etched glass, leather, marble and porcelain to create lighting fixtures, furniture and objects that fuse sculptural form with hand-worn materials. Each fixture is assembled in the Apparatus Studio where raw brass components are meticulously finished to reveal layers of uncommon beauty.
