Cohabitation is a metal Sculptures Series inspired by modern Architecture. Each piece is contained in a simple primitive volume divided in several sub-spaces like apartments in a building. Each room is open on the outside to bring lights to the internal volumes.
Circular windows holes have been used to add rhythm to those structures.
After designing all the volumes in 3D, I used laser cutting to get every single pieces to the right dimension.
Edges that will be welded need to bevelled using an angle grinder. That way the weld can be later smoothed while still remained strong.
Considering the size of the sculpture it was important to me to get the surface as neat as possible by removing all the weld bumps.
Everything was then moved to the spray booth, ready to be painted.
Before the actual painting, a metal primer was applied on all surfaces.
Finally, the sculptures were painted using spray paint.
