The James Street house is Rebeka’s ‘forever’ home. The house that she and John had dreamt of creating. They started with a blank slate, but a lot of hopes and dreams. Like most people that are building there are so many different styles and finishes that they loved, but they needed to narrow down the inspiration to a theme!
A mood board that they were able to provide their architect.
The overall concept was around creating a home with all the living on one floor, all the bedrooms on another. They were looking for a home which was conservative in its footprint but provided ample spaces for everyone to spread out in.
Natural light and beautiful natural materials are key to the design concept they wanted to work with. They wanted to repeat the key elements throughout the home to create a space which is calm, yet warm and inviting.
Rebeka and John talk about their three feels of an ideal home environment being inspiring, welcoming and calm. Like they teach, the home is all about the moments that you share with your friends and family, so a big emphasis was put on creating moments of connection and moments for retreat within the home. As a big family you need dedicated spaces for both!
They have had lots of practice working on homes and are always up for exploring another challenge, though out this magazine you will see how and why they put materials together and be sure to let us know which moment was the moment you liked best!
