With the ever-climbing cost of living in most developed cities, renting bare minimum living units, sharing flats or moving far away from the city center are all familiar survival options for the young workforce. Given the challenging brief to transform a 4-storey podium structure into a densely populated compound of 15-18 sqm units, Lukstudio explores the necessary common spaces to balance and enrich such an urban living condition.
随着在发达城市生活费用的不断提高，越来越多的年轻人选择租住小户型毛坯房，与他人合租，或者搬离市中心居住。面对这样一个在现代都市生活中越来越常见的难题，市场上的回应是将一栋4层高的楼房改造成了由15-18平方米的住宅单元组成的住宅社区。芝作室接受了这项都市建筑挑战，并在解答这难题的过程中探索各种可化腐朽为神奇的公共空间。
Located on Taojin road, in the hip area in central Guangzhou, this 4-storey high podium below 3 residential towers used to contain a gym, a club, and several offices.
基地坐落在淘金路，位于广州中心的闹市区，这栋四层楼房处在三座高层住宅楼之下的，曾用于容纳一个健身房，一个酒吧以及几个办公室。
Based on this site, Lukstudio has proposed a total facelift with a new living concept:
在此背景下，芝作室的提案不仅对立面进行了全新改造，还提供了一种全新的生活模式。
To better illustrate our original spatial design and our ideas of living in this urban complex, the Lukstudio team creates different profiles, puts themselves in the shoes of these characters and imagine what their lives could be like in one particular day.
为了更好传达我们的设计以及随之而来的新生活模式，芝作室创作了多个人物，并让团队成员亲身扮演，进入人物的情景之中，去体验他们一天的生活。

With a total surface of 10000m2, the area for common activities (42%) and the one for residential units (46%) are well-balanced. The 3 floors contain 282 units of 15-18sqm.
整个项目的总面积为1万平方米，其中共享活动空间（42%）与居住空间（46%）得到了很好的平衡。3层楼中一共包含了282个15-18平方米的居住单元。
The public areas are not only spatial extension to the cubicle living units, but also functional platforms of social possibilities.
公共空间不仅是方形住宅区域的延续，同时也是不同社交活动的发生舞台。通过共享公共厨房，电子超市，通高的健身房，多功能公共区以及其他便利设施，这个社区为多元交互的生活模式展开了新大门。在如今人人低头专注于手中电子屏幕而忽视身边当下的今天，住在这样一个社区可以重新点亮生活中的丰富色彩。
