IjenTEA KAFEA could not be one more cafe of the city. The owners wanted an image according to the service that they wanted to give. Fresh, healthy, natural, homemade, organic, green, eco ... these were the words used when describing the cafe they wanted. The design had to match with this philosophy with an architecture, that away from unnecessary ornaments, seeks the essential with few resources but without giving up a modern, young and natural image. And there was an added challenge: we wanted to achieve this goal with a really short budget.
We decided to place the counter on the right and, on the other side, a wood bench along the whole sandstone wall. This generates a central axis of movement that communicates with the toilets and the kitchen.
A part of the counter is close to the entrance with a display cabinet for the take-away. We sealed off the lateral entrance with a shelf and some stools so that you can have breakfast enjoying the view of the sea.
White walls and clear colors to maximize natural light and visual comfort. Accompanying this neutral and clear base, the continuous bench and wooden counter made of natural pine give warmth to the space.
The shelves made of corrugated steel bars and pine planks spread along the white wall accompanying the counter and adapting its geometry to the needs of each area.
On the ceiling, to hide the lighting of the counter, the speakers and the air conditioning conduits, recycled fruit boxes are placed apparently disorganized to give personality to the place.
