Competition 2009, design 2010-2012, construction (first stage) 2014-2015.
This competition winning project in the heart of Warsaw is a design for a 2km stretch of the western left bank of the Wisła riverbank between the new Kopernik science museum and up to the level of the historic old town.
The scheme was devised to bring life back to the riverside and create a new multifunctional public space for meeting, relaxing, sunbathing and just being. The river bank is currently cut off from the western part of the city by a busy highway - the old tunnels under the highway have been given a major facelift and a new tunnel is part of the next construction stage.
The architectural components of the scheme provide riverside amenities in the form of a viewing platform, restaurants, bars, galleries and covered pergolas- all designed as pavilions. There are also new floating water tram stops and marinas for small pleasure boats and larger commercial cruisers.
The first construction stage, now completed, is located just opposite the castle and is visible from the historic old town.
