The House Residence Bomonti
Bomonti is an old settlement area of Istanbul with low-rise row houses built over a grid street pattern. After the opening of the Besiktas-Kagithane underpass tunnel, the North part of this area where the end of the tunnel is located, has become a magnet for new high-density developments. The House Residence Bomonti is one of these new development projects located on the threshold of this new and old characteristic urban textures.
When looked from the west, the project reflects the characteristic features of the residential buildings it faces with horizontal wide openings. This way it visually relates to the urban texture behind. The regular rectangular openings on the red brick wall gives a strong but at the same time a well-known character on this façade of the building. When looked at from the East, the building creates a visual relationship with the new developments with glass and aluminium facades and fragmented forms extending down the hill below.
The ground floor also creates a physical relationship with its immediate surrounding thanks to the absence of perimeter walls. The commercial units and the open piazza on the ground level also augments this relationship.
The project with a total of 32.000m2 covered space includes a hotel with 155 rooms and 51 residences managed by the hotel. Even though the residence floors are accessed independently from the hotel entrance, necessary functional relationships are established for them to benefit from the hotel functions. Common areas such as the lounge, gym and pool help to the hotel guests and residence owners to socialize together while enjoying all the functions of the building.
The House Residence has been awarded by LEED GOLD certificate.
