A 17th century country residence, renovated and restored to its ancient splendour, dominates the hill behind Bologna and houses the apartment of a family with a passion for art and design. Cypress trees, deer and hills surround the apartment that occupies the southern portion of the ancient villa, an imposing structure on classical lines recently renovated and brought back to life after years of abandon and neglect. The apartment is spread over 3 floors and overlooks extensive tree-filled grounds, where the family and friends get together around the table whenever work and time allow. Garden sofa and chairs by Visionnaire. The interconnecting living room and kitchen feature dark ceiling beams in contrast with the light, wide plank wooden floors that run throughout the house. Furniture is by Visionnaire . The walls are hung with works by Emmanuel Barcilon and Domenico Grenci. A Dagonet console bears a small Wunderkammer collection with sculptures and artists’ proofs (raku pottery by Rita Miranda, Alessandro Brighetti’s Cuore, a portrait by Domenico Grenci, Visionnaire’s Vanessa ceramic butterfly. The bevelled-edge glass bookcases contain books on art and the cinema. The growing number of books has made additional bookcases necessary in the basement room. The staircase leading to the upper floors features a wall of original brickwork left visible, like a painting, to testify to the building’s history. The bedrooms upstairs are always filled with light and the idea place for Visionnaire furniture to dialogue with the works of artist friends (Loris Cecchini, Obey, Susy Gomez, Daniel Gonzalez, Ygal Ozeri). Bathrooms are tiled with coloured mosaic tiles. Bookcases and art works create an intimate, welcoming ambience in the basement room, which can provide accommodation for guests if necessary (works by De Paris and Alfredo Romano).
