Nana Beach Hotel - Snack Bar 室内设计案例解析

Nana Beach Hotel is an attractive hotel and bungalow complex, situated on the northern coast of Crete, 25 km from Heraklion. It is built in a traditional architectural style of the island, consisting of low level buildings, with superb views of the Cretan sea. In order to keep up with the contemporary interior design and the up-to-date equipment, the Hotel is renovated regularly.

The renovation of the Snack Bar was a major project requiring collaborative work. The whole interior design as well as the design of the furniture was assigned to the architect, Kiriaki Daskalaki. At the same time, all of the restrooms and the locker rooms located next to the open space restaurant needed to be renovated as well, as it was necessary for the same decorating style to apply in adjacent spaces.  Her drawings and the end result are presented here.

Although the outside of this building maintains its traditional elements such as arches and stone walls, the interior combines vintage features (such as old-style ceramic tiles, tiles imitating beton sire, baskets hanging from the walls, antiqued wallpaper like beton sire) with contemporary furniture and lighting.

The whole idea was inspired by the local street markets, where all of the fruit and vegetable producers lay their products on counters and wait for the consumers to select and buy what they need. Both of the central buffets of the Snack Bar have exactly that principle: they display delicacies for the hotel lodgers to pick. The left buffet is for the cold cuisine: bread, dressings and salads while the right one contains hot dishes, soups and so on.

The highlight of the room is, of course, the action cooking, where experienced staff cook or grill the snack which the hotel lodger prefers in real time. On the left side of it, there is a post mix and on the right, there are display cases with a wide variety of desserts, fruit and ice cream.

Finally, the lighting of the space is worth mentioning. Modern illuminating balls hanging in random heights and distances are used to decorate and show off the room. As for the buffets, linear luminaires are attached inside its top wooden beams and concealed lighting is placed near the floor for a discreet, yet very interesting effect.
