Il progetto, parte del programma di HNA denominato Yo-Ho, è localizzato nella parte ovest dell’isola di Hainan, nella cittadina di Lingshui e più precisamente nei pressi della stazione dei treni ad alta velocità - posta immediatamente a nord dell’area di progetto. Il programma funzionale è: un terminal autobus connesso ad un hotel, un centro commerciale e svariate unità abitative destinate per la maggioranza a giovani coppie. Il layout urbano immagina di organizzare le funzioni pubbliche nella parte nord, direttamente connesse alla stazione dell’alta velocità, mentre gli edifici residenziali vengono collocati nella parte sud. La dorsale del progetto è la continuità dello spazio pubblico che connette la piazza esistente di fronte alla stazione fino alla parte sud dell’area. Il disegno degli edifici e coerente con il contesto circostante: sezioni complesse per proteggere dal forte irraggiamento solare, grandi spazi aperti per godere della vita all’aria aperta e la scelta di materiali con colori accesi sono elementi che sottolineano le condizioni di vita tropicale del sito.

The project is part of the HNA Yo-Ho programme and is based on the west side of Hainan Island, in the town of Lingshui, nearby the high-speed train station, which is slightly north of the project area. The functional programme consists in a bus terminal connected to a hotel, a shopping centre and several residential units mainly aimed at young couples. According to the urban layout, public facilities will be located on the north side, and directly connected to the high-speed train station, while residential buildings will be on the south side. The continuity of the public space connecting the existing square opposite the station to the south part of the area forms the backbone of the project. The design of the buildings integrates well with the surroundings: the complex sections protecting from the sunlight, the wide open spaces allowing to enjoy the open air and the strong-colour materials are all elements that emphasise the tropical features of the site.
