Lo studio è stato inspirato dall'analisi della città di Tirana. Dalle linee guida del suo tessuto urbano che evidenziano i diversi processi di sviluppo che ha subito la città: da un lato una città maggiormente strutturata con direttrici nette e uno sviluppo ordinato, dall'altra un'espansione meno pianificata, caratterizzata da una mix architettonico e urbano, da un tessuto non distinguibile,caratteristica del fenomeno dello "sprawl" urbano.

Si è deciso di prendere atto delle trasformazioni delle città strettamente legate alla sua storia, cercando un modo per soddisfare le esigenze della città senza stravolgere l'esistente ma cercando di creare un "metodo" per chiunque viva Tirana. L'intervento è una sorta di "manuale di istruzioni per l'uso dei luoghi" che possa essere riconoscibile in qualsiasi parte della città, sia in quella "ordinata", sia in quella "mista".

In seguito all'analisi, il modello è stato sviluppato nell'area di intervento attraverso un forte segno a terra. Segno facilmente riconoscibile grazie al colore e al pattern; questi segni e colori assumono caratteristiche diverse a seconda del momento della giornata: di giorno,i colori e i materiali distinguono un certo tipo di percorsi e attività, mentre di notte, invece, gli stessi in parte restituiscono, diventando luminescenti, la luce catturata durante le ore diurne, fornendo differenti suggestioni nell'essere percorsi.

Si è scelto di creare un "metodo" che possa essere un modello esportabile nelle varie parti della città e modificabile a seconda delle esigenze, tenendo conto anche delle velocità e dei tempi di percorrenza e del piacere con cui la città viene vissuta: chi la vive in automobile, chi la vive in bici, chi la vive a piedi, chi la vive giocando, come i bambini,integrando laddove ci sia la necessità ampliando o diminuendo le singole attività.

Una sorta quindi di modello di "impollinazione" che dall'area di intervento possa andare a diffondersi ad altre aree urbane.

The study was inspired by the analysis of the city of Tirana. From the guidelines of its urban fabric to the urban areas that underlines the various development processes that the city has undergone: on one side a city more structured with clear guidelines and orderly development; on the other, a less planned expansion, characterized by an architectural and urban mix displaying the phenomenon of “sprawl”.

We decided to take note of the transformations of the city closely linked to its history. We were looking for a way of satisfying its needs without upsetting the existing and tried to create a thread for anyone living in Tirana. We came up with a sort of "instruction manual of places" that can be recognizable in any part of the city, both in the "orderly", and in the "mixed."

We have developed a model which was inserted in the intervention area on the ground floor. Signs easily recognizable thanks to the color and pattern; these signs and colors take on different characteristics depending on the time of day. By day the bright colors and the use of different materials stand out certain of routes and activities; while at night the signs become luminescent from light captured during daylight hours, providing different suggestions for walking.

We decided to create a "method" that may be an exportable model in various parts of the city that can be changed as needed, taking into account speed and journey times and enjoyment with which the city is experienced or traveled through. Those who lives by car, those who live by bike, those who live on foot, and those who live playing as children. This model thereby integrates wherever there is a need for expanding or decreasing individual activities. A sort of "pollination" that from the area of intervention can go spread to other urban areas.
