A California-based software company has doubled their footprint in their existing Waltham location, an expansion to give the offices a local flair while meeting design and space standards.
Unispace was tasked with the office expansion for a cloud platform software company located in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Due to an existing relationship and integrated process, the company chose Unispace to complete design and construction services for their 20,000 sqft expansion.
From the start of the project, Unispace collaborated closely with the decision-making team to reach a design vision that met their functional needs and strict guidelines and standards. Using progressive budgeting and cost transparency, and their 3D modelling software, uniBIM, Unispace was able to provide them with options that fit within their budget and worked within the existing conditions of the space.
The completed expansion ties local flair with their design and space standards. Using a pocket watch and the American Waltham Watch Company as concept inspiration, the office has a mix of intricacy and simplicity in both design and space planning. The pocket watch case represents the open office with thoughtfully placed textures and colors. The watch face connects to front facing areas like the entry, café, and collaboration and team zones. These focal spaces are contrasted with jeweled colors, intricate details, and whimsical patterns. The gears on the clock tie to the conference and huddle rooms with smooth transitions of tones, colors, and textures. The workplace provides the Waltham staff the space to meet their programming needs while seamlessly blending individual, collaboration, and community work areas.
