年级客厅、多元智能空间、被动房设计

黄城根小学昌平校区项目是一次将建筑理念与教育理想高度结合的设计实践,也是北京市第一所被动房学校建筑。拥有百年历史的黄城根小学与具备丰富的教育建筑设计经验的和立建筑实践事务所,一致希望突破公立学校在空间与形象上的瓶颈,建设一所“以学生为中心”的“二十一世纪的学校”。

THE Changping Campus of Huang Cheng Gen Primary School showcases design practice that highly integrates architectural concepts with educational philosophies. It is also the first school architecture in Beijing built in accordance with the Passive House Standards. Huang Cheng Gen Primary School, with a history of over 100 years, and Inclusive Architectural Practice, a design firm with extensive experience in education architectural design, both agreed to think out of the box regarding public schools’ space planning and building imagery, and build a learner-centered “School of the 21st Century”.

学校的空间架构在多个层面上组成。首先,以“学习社区”取代传统的“教室+走廊”布局,成为空间的基本单元。每个年级160名学生,恰好是一个孩子在一年时间内能够认识的最多人数,因此学习社区又称为“年级客厅”。年级客厅为孩子们提供了安全感和归属感,促进课堂的延伸和多学科的交叉。

The architecture is comprised of a multi-tier model of spaces. First, “the Learning Community” replaces the traditional “cell + bell” classroom layout and constitutes the basic unit of the space. There are 160 students in each grade, which, according to research, is the maximum number of people for a child to remember in a year. The learning community is also called “the Grade Living Room”, which provides the children with safety and a sense of belongingness, facilitating openness while acting as an extension of classes and cross-disciplinary learning.

年级客厅、专科教室、图书馆、多功能体育馆、餐厅、报告厅形成了若干个“盒子”。为了提供充足的采光和通风,盒子在平面布局上扭转,形成多个三角形院子。我们将整体空间格局命名为“盒子和院子的故事”。这个格局有效地缩小了建筑的尺度,极大地丰富了室内外的空间形态。

The Grade Living Rooms, the single-subject classrooms, the library, the multifunctional gymnasium, the canteen and the auditorium form several boxes, which rotated layout, in consideration for ample natural light and ventilation, in turn form multiple triangular courtyards. Therefore, the design is named “A Story of Boxes and Courtyards”. This design layout effectively reduces the scale of the building’s massing, while enhancing the forms of the interior and exterior spaces.

最大的“院子”是位于建筑中央的三层通高的表演艺术中庭,功能等同小镇中心;中庭与舞蹈戏剧教室以及“演艺院子”在室内外形成一系列的非正式演出和集会场所。“生活院子”则是室外下沉庭院,连接了餐厅、体育馆和乐队排练厅,是草地音乐会的理想空间。

The largest courtyard is a three-story interior atrium in the center of the building, which functions as a Performing Arts Hall as well as a “town center”. It is connected to the dance and drama studios as well as the “Performing Arts Courtyard”, forming a sequence of indoor and outdoor spaces for informal performing and gathering. The “Lifestyle Courtyard” is an outdoor sunken courtyard that connects the canteen, the gymnasium and the band rehearsal room, forming an ideal location for music assemblies in the summer.

多个“盒子”衔接而界定的多边形空间连接各类教室,形成了学生中心、创客空间、网络咖啡、生活中心等主题学习场所,取代了传统的走廊,为授课、演示、展陈、表演、项目学习等多种学习方式提供了多样化的环境,实现了“处处可以学习”的教学理想。我们将这些公共空间称为“智能中心”,这是著名教育家霍华德·加德纳提出的“多元智能”理论的空间实践。

The polygonal spaces defined by the “boxes” connect to the various classrooms, and form the Lifestyle Center, Student Center, Makerspace, Cybercafe and other subject learning centers. Replacing traditional corridors, these learning centers create multipurpose environment for lectures, demonstrations, exhibitions, performances, and project-based learning, achieving the educational ideal of “Learning Anywhere, Anytime”. These common areas are called “the Intelligent Centers”, a prototypical space model in accordance with the theory of “Multiple Intelligences” put forward by the famous educator Howard Gardener.

室内外的主要饰面材料仅为环保涂料,色彩和形式几乎成为空间之外唯一的设计手段。我们以黄城根校徽的蓝色和黄色作为色板,以教室的矩形和公共空间的三角形作为形式语汇。墙面上深浅不一的色块降低了盒子的硬度,三角形的铺地和吊顶既保留了空间的通用性,又增加了灵动和愉悦感。

The main interior and exterior finish material is environmental-friendly and colorful paint. For the pattern language, we have employed the blue and yellow colors from the logo of Huang Cheng Gen School as the color palette, the rectangular shape for classrooms and the triangular shape for common spaces. The various shades of color patches on the building facades soften the solidity of boxes, and the triangular shapes on the flooring and ceilings increase playfulness and delight while reserving space adaptability.

同样的形式语汇也运用到户外景观和标识设计中。校园内采用天然材料构成的丰富的地面肌理,灵感草坪、雨水花园、室外画廊等场所为孩子们提供了户外课堂和游戏空间。

The same design vocabularies are also applied to the landscape and signages. Natural materials and finishes have been selected for ground coverings. The Inspiration Lawn, Rain Garden and Plaza Gallery all add to the outdoor learning and play spaces for children.

在整个设计过程中,设计团队始终将空间理念植根于教育理念,将空间格局优先于人为的造型,从而创造性地营造出在通透性、开放度、互动性和空间尺度等方面高度多元化的学习场所,将一个建设资金有限、规范约束严格的公立学校建设成为真正意义上的“以学生为中心”的“二十一世纪的学校”。

Throughout the design process, the architectural concept was firmly rooted in the idea of education, and spatial layout was a priority over artificial forms. The design team was successful in creating a learning community that is highly versatile in its transparency, openness, interactivity and scale. A traditional public school with a tight budget and strict building restrictions has now been transformed into a genuine learner-centered School of the 21st Century.
