The Orazio Palace  is a hotel that pays homage to Rome and its light, long celebrated by artists and film makers the world over, an interior design project that combines refinement and eclecticism in a contemporary dimension of living, beneath the sky of a capital that never ceases to enchant.

The project is a place open to the city, which offers itself up as a space for expansive conviviality: the Orazio Palace, the new hotel of the 4L Collection chain, in the Prati district, a few steps from the Basilica of St. Peter’s and the Castel Sant'Angelo, the cosmopolitan heart of the capital.

Opened last June, the Orazio Palace has an area of ​​four thousand square metres and nine floors, comprising 65 rooms, including six suites and many spaces dedicated to shared living and conviviality, open not only to hotel guests but to the whole city: a hall, library, lobby bar, garden, gym, the rooftop Ozio restaurant and sky lounge bar.

The Orazio Palace is a place of meeting, work, exchange and gourmet experiences but above all it is an opportunity to rediscover Rome for those who live there and know it, returning to make their own the architecture, colours and images of a beauty crystallized in time.

The COLLIDANIELARCHITETTO studio draws inspiration from the light of Rome at the moment of twilight: "It is a clear, golden light - comments Daniela Colli, owner of the studio - that defines contrast, contour and plasticity, exalting shapes and materials with saturated colours; the project wishes to celebrate the changing nature of the Capitoline sky at the magical hour of twilight ».

We find this inpiration in the neoclassical profile of the elegant early twentieth century building, whose facade is sculpted by the Roman light which gives it great plasticity. Behind it are contained several environments dedicated to sharing and gathering, which favour a fluid use of the spaces and which continually open up to the visitor; a contemporary concept of hospitality in which all environments are open, welcoming, enjoyable, despite the difference in their identity.

In the Orazio Palace the monochromatic surfaces are enhanced by contrasting touches of brilliant colour, which confer on the hotel a strong and contemporary identity, emphasised by its precious materials, tailored furnishings and hand-made details by the finest craftsmen, a balance between sign, material and meaning that creates a welcoming and cosmopolitan atmosphere.

The double height of the hall is emphasized by a chandelier with brass macro-rings and large plants while soft colours alternate with bright accents in orange tones, as in the wall which leads to the lobby bar, covered with swirling multicolour wallpaper with a three-dimensional effect, with bold velvet armchairs, in which the studio gives an ironic interpretation that subverts the proportions of the classic chair.

The lobby bar is a monochromatic setting in shades of grey, in which wallpaper of textured material, chromed metals and engraved mirrors are interrupted by the hints of bright orange of the velvet seats and by the artfully distorted light of the lamps; custom made furniture that creates a warm and refined atmosphere.

Imprinted with neutral colours, the library suggests intimacy and favours concentration, for informal meetings as well as for reading. In the courtyard, on the other hand, we find the garden, with its walls covered with scented jasmine; a place to take a break from the frenetic pace of the metropolis, which offers an unexpected visual game, when from above you can observe the contrast between the square pattern of the floor and the orange steel rod furniture.

An eclectic style and refinement of materials and textures for the suites, in which the COLLIDANIELARCHITETTO studio intervenes to define environments with international appeal with tailor-made furnishings and polished details: sofas and seats in Klein Blue, desks and bedside tables with a material surface with precious marble tops, lamps in macro and micro-scales, which with their chromed titanium caps envelop the environment in a soft light.

On the seventh floor, a great glass space with a perimeter terrace, in which interior and exterior coexist in visual continuity and utility, houses the Ozio Restaurant; here contemporary Italian style dominates with linear sofas in brilliant green, seats of floral velvet and wicker, glass tables, bold lamps and brass hangings.

On the eighth and top floor, the sky lounge bar offers an unprecedented Roman open air space, in which the view opens to 360° on the marvellous Rome skyline, thanks to completely transparent glass plates which merge with the surrounding landscape. Thus it is possible to embrace in a single glance the dome of Saint Peter’s, the Castel Sant’Angelo and a large part of the historic centre, the sofas of woven rope and the metal armchairs with soft peony pink cushions are truly the ideal setting to admire the beauty of Rome against the changing background of the sky. As Federico Fellini wrote: «Light is what adds, what removes, what reduces, what exalts, what enriches, blurs, underlines, alludes, what makes the fantastic, the dream, or, on the contrary, makes the real fantastic, makes of the greyest everyday life a mirage, adds transparency, evokes tensions and vibrations».

This is the Orazio Palace, a building sculpted by light, overlaid by a mottled sky that turns purple at sunset, where the lives of people take to the stage.
