The starting point for this project has been set by the idea of purposely recreating an outdoor ambience within the indoor gym. In fact, we wanted to develop a natural habitat, ad hoc for its users. Teresa Sapey always insists on space being a living element. As a consequence, it has a soul. More specifically, the new dimension of Reebok Sports Club, will have its own soul: natural, calm, eco-friendly, respectful, modest and somehow poetic. This essence will talk softly through the light, elegant, and materially timeless birch-wood.
Tree-tops have been metaphorically represented on the ceiling, through circles of various diameters. These, remind us of the foliage of a forest, which as in nature covers, here it protects and redresses the space container from its naked and imposing volume.
Further one, we challenge ourselves with a labyrinth of playing mirrors: not only to constantly see ourselves, but also to be constantly seen. And, of course, mirrors contribute to increasing and expanding the space, allowing for it to appear more generous.
The stylistic simplicity which is emphasised by the chromatic diversity creates on the horizon a wonderful nature landscape. In fact, on one hand, tiny red dots and spots have been strategically arranged in order to encourage the user to overcome the challenges that cardio-vascular activities involve; on the other one, green dots have been set to highlight and influence the relaxation and stretching zones.
Finally, light has been the oxygen of the entire project. Alongside the comfort, lighting has also been majorly taken into account and studied, thus allowing creating theatrical visual effects that have turned the space into a mutant and shifting place. In fact, this not only varies with the daily hours but also alongside the years’ arc.
At the basis of Reebok Sport Clubs’ new image there has been a close relation and open dialog between the client and the practice. Our aim has been to build together a new space concept, a space aimed not only to allow physical training in its essence by also as a dream container, in which aspirations and ambitions can be achieved; a space for all.
