Giving life to Hêrmann Thômas Coffee Masters (HTCM) summarizes the possibility of creating a brand with three key factors: an ambitious and fascinating project; a client with clear vision and creative openness; and last, time to research and develop every detail. HTCM was a project that demanded the whole package; brand language, stationery, packaging, web design, signage, editorial pieces, iconography and illustrations.
Phil Hêrmann & Bree Thômas imagined an inspirational cafeteria where coffee and books coexist perfectly. Enjoying and tasting the most extraordinary coffee surrounded by specialized books (architecture, design, food, interior design, photography, etc.) becomes real, a Pinterest that comes to life in a bookcase loaded with more than two tons of ideas. This coffee shop opened its doors in the city of Córdoba, Veracruz, with the intention of replicating its concept in more cities in the world; CDMX is home for its second shop and he hopes to reach more places soon.
The graphic was created around Phil & Bree, complemented with illustrations inspired by old engravings and scientific illustrations, developed by Mr. Power. The brand hides representative abstractions of the characters, such as the deer antlers and the rabbit ears blended in the typeface. As well as the symbol, which fuses those two elements with the H and T within a circle, creating a distinctive element for brand.
The project has been published at “Meet you at the café”, a book that collects different branding projects for cafeterias around the world. Hêrmann Thômas characters are also the main characters of the book´s cover.
