Brimming with a darker tone and subtle oriental touches, this 646-sq.ft. apartment in Tseung Kwan O is the home sweet home of a young couple.
“Most of us are engrossed in a fast-paced urban lifestyle. It helps immensely when we can come back to a peaceful home that allows us to escape this never-ending rush,” say Ada Wong and Eric Liu, co-founders of Littlemore Interior Design.
The goal is to create for a young couple a soothing living space to echo the greenery outdoor. Serenity, tranquility, calm, and peace constitute huge parts of the brief. “Incorporating a dark wood tone and keep up with the fresh, contemporary vibe is no easy task,” says the team, who mixes it up with modern light fixtures, furniture and vibrant pops of colours so the interior doesn’t appear tacky.
In the living/dining room, the opal glass pendant and two small sculptural pendants hung atop the dining table provide cosy indirect lighting and decorating need, sans the glare. The wallpaper of pinkish cherry blossoms at the foyer and back of display shelves is equally characterful.
The kitchen is now connected through a metal-framed glass door, linking up the living room and the cooking zone. The design team also took down the brick walls of the multi-functional room, adding in glass sliding door to brighten up the corridor, opening flexibility for future use.
Within the master bedroom, the green wallpaper parallels with the rolling greenery outside. The combination of vinyl padded headboard, curtains, cushions and bedding cultivate the perfect ambience for relaxation. As with all metropolitans, there’s a need for an organised, neat home. The bookshelf at the end of the bed tucks in some clever storage space, as does the enclosed storage in the study.
