FUTURE FOOD LAB DESIGN FOR FUTURE FOOD NETWORK
The project that I’ve proposed for the final semester is Future Food Lab by Future Food Network. Future Food Lab is a laboratory that creates new things for our future through innovation. The inspiration for this project came from the issue of population growth. The population of Malaysia is increasing year by year, and food must be increased by 70% to prevent people suffering from hunger. Besides, due to the Covid-19 case, Malaysia working out with a Movement Control Order ( MCO ). The MCO might decrease the production of food.
The Future Food Network aims to bring innovation while maintaining a solid foundation for a unique food heritage. There are 3 important parts namely food alchemist, food maker and urban agriculture. Food Alchemist focuses on innovation and research in all aspects of fermentation. Secondly, the Food maker laboratory uses 3D printers to make food, robotic AI or VR systems, etc to explore more for the future of food. Third, Urban Farming is a laboratory that will be installed in rotation to explore the technology of indoor agricultural innovation.
The concept that I have chosen is ‘ Health is Wealth ‘ and my expressive element is ‘ Roots of Vegetables ‘The importance of future food innovation is to prevent people suffering from hunger. At the same time, if there is insufficient food in the human body, any disease may occur, health is wealth, and the future is rooted in the past, so prevention is better than cure. In the Design, the idea exploration in the reception is from the ground to higher up as giving an idea of becoming stronger and stronger. This is because the expression element from the concept that wants to convey the root message is always the base to make everything stronger. Regardless of the curved shape of the booth, from the ground to the higher position of the counter design, creativity always comes from the concept.
