It’s simple. It’s understated. It’s sophisticated. Let’s not mince our words here. What’s not to love?

This one bedroom apartment in Paris by the designers at Septembre is a beautiful example of allowing free flowing spaces to marry with different floor finishes, in order to make a small apartment feel light and breezy. Although one suspects, being located in the eleventh district of Paris, one hardly needs much more to feel satiated.

It’s the kitchen come dining area of this 60m2 apartment that makes you first pay attention. You can almost feel yourself pulling back one of the Charlotte Perriand‘s Les Arc chairs and plonking down on the brown, leather slingback. But it’s the sheer scale of Saarinen marble dining table in an otherwise achingly, empty room that makes the space feel decadent. The detail of the timber pendant lamp, suspended as it is from a series of industrial pulley systems, gives what is essentially an otherwise bare room another layer of detail.

Original white French doors, open onto a balconette. There’s a lot of white here. White walls, white pressed cornice details, white ceilings, white doors. The wall of windows along the perimeter of the apartment illuminate the space with bright, white light. But perhaps it is because of all this white, that the dove grey kitchen hits such a perfect note. It’s pared back sophistication at it’s best.

It just reads well. All of it. And not because it’s excessively designery. And not because there are a lot of wow moments either. More that it’s just been beautifully finished. From the small, perfectly detailed hexagonal white and black tiles in the bathroom to the white painted timber flooring in the bedroom. It’s just lovely, all of it. And it’s in Paris. And also. Errr… It’s in Paris!
