“The central idea was to create a space that resembles a film set or stage design, accommodating all activities. The seats are arranged facing the stage, giving the impression of a theater with a house. The space consists of several individual “apartments” or booths that act as elaborate backdrops, complete with curtains, wooden panels, floodlights, and a large oval lighting fixture on the ceiling,” elucidates Shushana Khachatrian, the founder of architecture and design STUDIO SHOO.

The Record Studio bar is situated within the premises of Winzavod, a former winery that has undergone a magnificent transformation into a contemporary art center. The industrial expanse of the venue, accentuated by crossbeams, served as a source of inspiration for the overall style. Dealing with such spaces is always an exhilarating experience as they seem to dictate their own rhythm.

The decision was made to leave the crossbeams exposed and highlight them with mesh panels to create a distinctive space with a powerful atmosphere, encompassing film, music, and artistic references. The space was designed with an open bar, a stage, a recording studio, an amphitheater, and versatile seating that allows for the central part of the venue to be transformed into a dance floor.

The interior design is heavily influenced by the works of Pedro Almodóvar, featuring red as the principal theme, exuding a deep and intense hue that does not overwhelm the space. The palette also includes shades of green and blue, highlighting the details while complementing the warm greys of the walls. The vintage furniture, renovated explicitly for this project, plays an essential role in the ambiance, each piece with its unique story contributing to the overall vibe.

The amphitheater, reminiscent of an old Spanish cinema, boasts plush red seats, while throwback 1960s custom-made radiator grilles with circular perforations and a vivid blue communal table add to the remarkable features. The abundance of curtains in the venue accentuates the theatrical feel of the place, leaving the audience wondering what is hidden backstage. Inside the booths, the curtains further enhance the illusion of private homes, and their color scheme evokes the dwellings of Almodóvar characters. The overhanging futuristic blue oval shape ties the space together, complementing the floor design and structuring the entire area.
