“Espacio en obras” by Carmen Baselga_Taller de Proyectos is an action organized by Intergift-IFEMA, with the collaboration of “Consejo General de Colegios Oficiales de Decoradores y Diseñadores de Interior” of Spain. It was created to emphasize the latest international proposals and trends in decorative items.
We had an empty space, a blank canvas where a home was built, using only articles from sales stands of other companies. We created a project, which had guidelines for selecting the items. It was an ephemeral and dynamic space, a work in progress during the fair days; we visited every stand and we selected and set up different objects. We started with the biggest objects, which helped us to organize the space, and we then completed the staging with smaller decorative items to give a distinctive trait to the result.
The project was developed around the subject of light, echoeing the “International Year of light” celebrated in 2015. We wanted to evoke with lighting, recreating the natural light of the sun and fire. It is an open concept space, representing a loft, where different areas of the home (garden, living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom) interact.
We accentuated the work in progress using three mannequins, as though they were the innhabitants of this supposed home, every day changing their positions in relation with the space. These characters helped to make this staging more human
