With the consolidation of several suburban locations and the implementation of the Workplace360 initiative, CBRE's new Oak Brook office required flexibility with no assigned seating to give employees the freedom to work from anywhere.

Gensler has completed the office interiors for established global real estate company, CBRE, located in Oak Brook, Illinois.

CBRE, a well-known global real estate company, decided to consolidate several Chicago suburban offices and their TCC subsidiary into their Oak Brook location and expand and renovate their current space.

The newly consolidated office incorporated CBRE’s Workplace 360 initiative, which has no assigned seats and creates various work settings, encouraging employees to be mobile and work anywhere. The workspace types include sit/stand workstations, focus rooms, huddle rooms, conference rooms, touchdown stations, as well as open collaboration areas.

The two main collaborative spaces are the HEART and the RISE café. The Heart is a dynamic space simultaneously serving as a concierge, lobby, meeting, and workspace. The RISE café serves as a lower key collaboration lounge with a café function.

Both these areas showcase the power of the global CBRE brand, as well as express unique local brand and connections to the suburban Chicago market. These are expressed through a feature map graphic wall, custom glass patterns, as well as glass artwork and local art throughout the space.

The CBRE renovation in Oak Brook elevates its connection to the global CBRE network by celebrating growth throughout the greater Chicagoland market. Driven by connections between the urban gird transitioning into the lush pastoral landscapes that surround, this story has been told by balancing warm natural materials with textural urban finishes. Refined details inspired by local fashion and country club culture help to articulate unexpected elements of surprise throughout. The new CBRE space delivers a sophisticated and exciting new experience for clients and staff alike.
