The school is located at the entrance to the Troyes Campus, of which it is the showcase. The program of the Ecole Supérieure des Travaux Publics is innovative and ambitious: beyond the simple expression of the needs in premises, it defines a philosophy of the building declined according to four great themes: teaching, administration, reception and research.
The project must contribute to the learning and training of students. The key words to encourage critical thinking are: to value the full as well as the empty, the in-between, to favor transparency, special openness, communication, and the hybridization of teaching practices.
Our reflection starts from the analysis of these themes that the project puts in scene. The atrium, the central piece of the project, will combine multiple functions: it organizes movement, but it is also a place for work, meeting, and relaxation, whose use can change depending on the time of day.
The "Search and Welcome" poles at the entrance to the building: the technical hall functions as a real showcase for the school of which it is the symbol: it is sheltered by a large concrete sail whose architecture expresses the very foundation of the public works school. We will see that each building has a different construction method, thus showing the variety of know-how. Thus our project, by its spirit and its form, figures the ambitions of the program and gives the school the singular and strong image it seeks.
