Kish Island, due to its strategic location and tourism resources, needs a powerful intervention for reviving and valorizing its undervalued coastal area. The project, located on a pre-existing pier of 700 m long and 20 mwide, tries to create a strong landmark that is easily recognizable by the visitors, while becomes an important tourist attraction.
The scalar modularity of the space creates a sort of self-similarity in different scales. In such a way, it is possible to accommodate different functional scenarios in each module, without weakening the overall identity of the complex. Despite its considerable length, the variety of pedestrian, driving, bicycle, chairlift, elevator, and In-flight passenger sight views, remain coherent. The new complex is meant to be a landmark, while the structure provides opportunities for discovering the extraordinary landscape of the island and the sea.
From its several panoramic terraces, ramps, chairlifts, and panoramic elevator, the sightseers can discover the dynamic view of the pier and its surrounding environment. The wavy form of the longitudinal section of the pier plays a role in creating such dynamism. Despite variable heights, even the physically disabled people can reach every corner of the dock, by taking chairlifts, ramps or elevators. The panoramic elevator is placed at the end of the itinerary to create an attraction point and cognitive anchor in the farthest point of the pier.
Functional spaces such as cafes and various shops have been created next to the terraces, bridges, and the new green roofs. The project is meant to play an important role in the economy of the Island.
