Paso Plaza represents a vital link between the central city of Guangzhou and the region’s new international airport. The iconic form of the tower at the site’s eastern edge acts as a visual anchor in the urban landscape. The sinuous path flowing through the forms is flanked by a series of terraces that evoke the sculptural effects of erosion in the delta. As the center transitions from the outdoor experience to the indoor destination, visitors will encounter bridges and activity along a path that leads to the Parcel 4 and 5 forms. With striated patterns and terraces that puncture the solid mass, the mall evokes the metamorphic rock formations of the nearby Baiyun Mountain. The entire length of the development will feature active zones, from the ice rink with views out toward the tower and mountain, to the rooftop vista of the city surrounded by the flowing forms of the residential towers.
