Think Contemporary were engaged by the Global Student Accommodation to design the Tannery, a space for students to relax and socialize, located in Dublin, Ireland.
Global Student Accommodation (GSA) is one of the largest student accommodation companies in the world, with a presence in over 8 countries. They had a number of buildings in the Dublin, Ireland, but their main focus to date had been on the accommodation side of the offering. With their newest building The Tannery, they wanted to create the full experience for their students with more focus on the student service areas. They wanted to create a mix of fun and innovative breakout and study spaces, which would encourage the students to socialize and interact more with the space. The 3 spaces that we concentrated on were, the reception, the common room and the study space. These areas needed to be modular and interactive to promote a sense of culture and belonging in the space. We incorporated clever design solutions, such as the stool wall, which is a huge design feature in the common room but is also a very functional element. Over the three areas, we created fun and exciting spaces that has been received extremely well by the students.
